The Minister’s Award
Mr James Frazer
We are pleased to announce that James Frazer has earned a Minister's Commendation for Excellence in Student Achievement.
This prestigious award is presented to NSW Year 12 students who have demonstrated high achievement in academic excellence, leadership and commitment to the school community.
Amongst his many achievements this year, James has acted as MC at the Corowa ANZAC Ceremony, competed as part of the Riverina Basketball team, maintained outstanding academic results, received the Australia Day School Achiever Award for Leadership and Citizenship and of course, acted as one of our School Captains.
2024
Mrs Willett honoured for 52 years of service
Corowa High School’s Science Assistant, Mrs Lynette Willett, was one of 59 school staff honoured at the inaugural Department of Education Service Recognition Dinner in 2023.
Deputy Premier of New South Wales and Minister for Education and Early Education, the Honourable Prue Car, presented Mrs Willett with her prestigious award in recognition of her extensive service with the Department of Education.
Mrs Willett began working at Corowa High School on 14 September 1971 and has now achieved an outstanding 52 years of service to our school and the Department of Education. She is our longest serving staff member and has seen many changes in her time.
The staff and students of Corowa High School extend their heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Mrs Willett.

The Secretary’s Award
Mr Andrew Pickering
We are tremendously proud of Grounds Assistant, Mr Andrew Pickering, on being selected as a recipient of the NSW Secretary’s Award for Excellent Service.
The Secretary’s Award for Excellent Service is a prestigious award presented to individuals who have shown outstanding effort in improving the quality of teaching and/or learning outcomes in the NSW public education sector.
Mr Pickering is extremely hardworking, effective at identifying areas for improvement, problem solving when challenges arise and implementing improvements around the school. Quite simply, he exemplifies the very best in our public education staff.

The Minister’s Award
Mr Martin Douglas
English Head Teacher, Mr Martin Douglas, made us proud when he was selected as a recipient of the Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2021.
The Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching is a prestigious award which recognises the achievements of outstanding teachers in delivering high quality education to students and their contributions to their professional communities. Mr Douglas was recognised for his outstanding leadership and dedication to his students.
Beyond our school, Mr Douglas leads the Riverina History Teachers Association and has been instrumental in the development of the new Stage 6 Modern History Syllabus. Mr Douglas regularly publishes in Teaching History and presents papers at NSW History Teachers Association conferences.
