Creative arts

Exploring creativity

Music

With a wide selection of musical instruments, knowledgable staff and numerous performing opportunities, students from Year 7 to Year 12 have the option to explore and extend their musical talents.

Our annual school performance, Variety Night, is always a spectacular show which provides the platform for students to demonstrate their musical abilities.

Variety Night also showcases the talents of our dancers and public speakers, as well as giving students the opportunity to act as stage attendants, lighting operators, master of ceremony and film makers.

Visual Arts

Our Art program inspires students to further their creative skills, while expanding their ability to creatively problem-solve, develop ideas and work both independently and collaboratively on project that encourage self-expression. Students have many opportunities to learn from local artists and participate in local community projects.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts.

Studying the creative arts, students learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform. Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Students must study 100 hours of both music and visual arts during Years 7 to 10. They also have an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in other art forms through elective subjects including drama, dance, photography and visual design. Students can then select from a range of courses in Years 11 to 12.
